Portrait on the Fly
2015, interactive computer based installation
The interactive installation consists of a monitor that shows a swarm of a few thousand flies. When a person positions him or herself in front of it, the insects try to detect his or her facial features. They then begin to arrange themselves so as to reproduce them, thereby creating a recognizable likeness of the individual. Posing in front of the monitor attracts the flies. Within seconds they invade the face, but even the slightest movement of the head or of parts of the face drives them off. The portraits are thus in constant flux, they construct and deconstruct. Portrait on the Fly is a commentary on our love for taking pictures of ourselves (Selfie-Culture), it has to do with change, transience and impermanence.

Mušas portrets
2015, interaktīva datorinstalācija
Interaktīvās instalācijas monitorā ir redzams lidojošs spiets, ko veido tūkstošiem mušu. Nostājoties pretī monitoram, kukaiņi pūlēsies atpazīt pretī stāvošā cilvēka sejas vaibstus. Tad tie centīsies izkārtoties tā, lai attēlotu šos vaibstus, veidojot redzamu līdzību ar cilvēka seju. Pozēšana monitora priekšā pievilina mušas. Dažu sekunžu laikā tās jau sāk veidot sejas aprises, bet vissīkākā galvas vai sejas kustība mušas izbiedē. Līdz ar to portreti atrodas nepārtrauktā kustība, tie izveidojas un atkal izjūk. Mākslas darbs Mušas portrets attēlo mūsu mīlestību pret pašbilžu taisīšanu (selfiju kultūru), darbs atspoguļo pārmaiņas, īslaicīgumu un nepastāvību.
